Dear Psychotherapy And Counselling Federation of Australia: The
McGill Psychotherapy Process Research Group (MPPRG) has developed
an observer rated method, the Cognitive Errors Rating Scale (CERS),
to assess cognitive errors in vivo, that is as they appear or are
reported by clients or research participants. To the best of our
knowledge, this is the first such observer rated method. We would
like to invite the members of the Psychotherapy And Counselling

Coming Events 2011
Dear
friends, I am so aware of people affected by floods throughout Queensland
and even into the other Eastern states. No doubt each one of you
has been touched, if not immediately by flooding, but through the
people you know and love who have suffered.
I had thought to delay this newsletter till people were more settled
but I realised that we do need to let you know so you can plan if
you are coming to the Port in the near future. I am listing below
upcoming workshops for February and March.
Also I wanted to tell you about a wonderful health program that
I have undertaken in the past 6 months. If you or those you know
suffer with problems with Heart, Cholesterol, Type 2 Diabetes, Blood
pressure or weight, this program might really help. I am attaching
details.
With every good wish, Pat Quinn
The Mystery of Life - How to
create your ‘Union with the Divine’
with Pat Quinn and team
What is your definition of the ‘Divine’ — your
spirit, a Presence, a God or do you have a sense that there is something
greater than us guiding our existence? If so, you know there is
a greater power.
This workshop explores our relationship with the Source —
whatever this might mean to you. Deep in the unconscious is the
longing for connection with something beyond our personal existence.
This weekend will help you to recognise when you are being guided
in subtle ways, such as inspiration, intuition or synchronicity.
The workshop will help explain how you can benefit from Your Very
Own Union with the Divine.
Bring: Loose comfy clothing, biro, notebook.
Bed linen and doona if living in. Food to share.
Dates: February 12–13, 2011
Times: Saturday 9am–5pm, Sunday 9am–4pm
Register Saturday 8:30am
Fees: $210

keeping your potential locked up.
This is a powerful tool that, when used under skilled guidance,

and allow your energy to flow freely.
This workshop is not appropriate for pregnant women, or for persons
with cardiovascular problems, severe hypertension, severe mental
illness, recent surgery or fractures, acute infectious illness,
or epilepsy. It is not compatible with the use of illegal drugs.

there will be an introductory talk on Friday night at 7.45pm prior
to each workshop — this is a pre-requisite for newcomers.

TERC Level One Training 2011
I am very excited to let you know that the Level 1 Training in Transpersonal
and Emotional Release Counselling will be commencing in January
2011.
We have 6 people that have committed to engaging in the journey
of the training.
For
those of you that are interested in training:
I encourage you to consider applying to join this training. We only
run a training when we have the numbers to do so – and this
is a wonderful opportunity to either commence your journey towards
becoming a Transpersonal and Emotional Release Counsellor, or to
update and expand your skills in the area of counseling that you
already work in, or to undertake a year of intensive, supported
personal growth. I have attached to application information for
you to look over. A factor you may wish to take into consideration
is that from 2012 Journeylines will be the only Transpersonal and
Emotional Release Training centre offering Level 1 training, and
from 2013 will be the only centre offering any training in Transpersonal
and Emotional Release Counselling.
For
those that may be interested in workshops during 2011:
As this training currently has 6 participants – we will be
opening some of the training intensives so that others can participate
for their own personal journeywork. These participants will not
be considered trainees – rather, they are attending as public
workshop participants. They have the added benefit of participating
with a training group which brings a richness both through being
exposed to the training information, as well as doing their personal
work with a group that is already working at depth and in a committed
way. The Training group benefits from the added energy and experiences
that such participants will bring to the group. If you are interested
in this then please let me know.

regards, Martha Calhoun

It is for anyone who is striving for inner growth and wanting to
find ways of using their TERC training as leaders in their world.
Participants need to have completed Level 2 training. Testimonials
from workshop participants.
“A good experience to reconnect. An experiential way to
update/stay in touch with emerging trends in deep inner work. A
great way to do some of your own work with experienced people”.

the journeying – time to be real, to name it, to realize the
collective nature and impact of what we do”.

August & November,
2010
Dear
friends, Very soon we are presenting a weekend of Holotropic Beathwork
and I wanted to remind you that this is coming up. Breathwork is
a technique that we offer here at the centre four times a year and
it is very popular and many people find that they have profound
experiences. The recent Sandplay week was greatly appreciated by
those who attended and as most are professional counsellors they
will be incorporating this method into their professional practice.
This course is offered just once a year and is very highly rated
by the counselling professionals. Given it’s popularity we
have been providing this for the past 20 years. With good wishes,
Pat Quinn.

on Mental Health Reform hits Parliament
Dear
Member Associations, The Mental Health Council of Australia held
a meeting today at Parliament House calling for reshaping of mental
health services in Australia. The attached letter was
given to Senator Claire Moore who was acclaimed by the CEO of the
Mental Health Council David Crosbie as a tireless advocate for mental
health and people suffering disadvantage. PACFA was one of 47 associations,
including the AMA and AASW, who were signatories. Ione Lewis attended
the meeting as PACFA’s representative. Professor Mc Gorry,
Australian of the Year, addressed the meeting and spoke of the need
for a widespread restructure of the mental health system and the
difficult relationship between the government and the mental health
sector following the COAG meeting and the Federal Budget. Professor
Mc Gorry called for a commitment to equity between physical health
which receives 13% of the Federal budget and mental health which
receives 6%.
He said the imbalance in funding was due to stigma and discrimination
and that there is a need for immediate investment in Headspace,
Early Intervention in Psychosis and Suicide Intervention and Prevention.
Although a further meeting was arranged with Kevin Rudd and the
Health Minister Nicola Roxon, the resignation of the Prime Minister
this morning made this impracticable. David Crosbie said there would
be a short terms strategy to lobby government in the lead up to
the election and a longer terms strategy. Julia Gillard the incoming
Prime Minister has been Shadow Minister for Health and is well aware
of the gaps in services. The photo is of the meeting delegates.

Coming Events
Dear
Friends, Very soon the workshop Healing Relationships will be happening
here at the Port. There has been quite a deal of interest. If you
would like to book you will need to this in the next couple of days.
Just two weeks after that workshop will be the Holotropic Breathwork
which can be attended for the weekend or for the four days. This
workshop is always very popular. Be lovely to see you here. With
every good wish, Pat Quinn
Healing Relationships with Judith
Dawson and Albert Scherrer PhD
A workshop using the process of Family Constellations. This technique
is a very powerful way of clearing and resolving old relationships
so that you can get on with your life. Often we are hurt by parents
not living up to our expectations. We may choose to remain close
to them physically, but cannot let go of resentment, anger or sadness.
Alternately we may cut ourselves off physically and emotionally
from our family, in an attempt to protect ourselves from further
disappointment or hurt. Through this workshop you can begin to heal
yourself and the “soul” of your family.
Bring: Loose comfy clothing, biro, notebook. Bed linen and
doona if living in. Prepared food to share.
Dates: May 15-16, 2010
Times: Saturday 9am–5pm, Sunday 9am–4pm Register Saturday
8:30am
Fees: $210
Holotropic Breathwork™
as a tool for self exploration
This process combines a powerful breathing technique
with music to enter into a deep meditative state enabling one to
gain access to the unconscious. It can heal past hurts, open up
hidden potential and allow your energy to flow freely.
Bring: Two towels, tissues, one fitted and one flat sheet
for breathwork, art pad, crayons, biro, notebook, loose clothing;
bed linen and doona if living in. BYO food to share for meals
Dates: May 29-30 and May 31-June1; Aug 28-29; November 27-28 and
29-30
Times: Saturday 9am–9pm, Sunday 8.30am–5pm
Monday and Tuesday 8.30am–4.30pm
Fees: $195 for 2 days $390 for 4 days

Dear
PACFA Member Associations, Please see below the comment on the upcoming
4 Corners program on Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Next Monday evening on ABC's Four Corners there is a program
that examines what bad practice for a Psychotherapist or Counsellor
can look like and in part asks the question about the regulation
of the professions. PACFA has had input into the program but has

Dear
Friends, How lovely it has been to get some volume of rain in Toowoomba

the workshop “Four Steps to Personal Freedom” –
a workshop that has proved very popular in the past. On April 24
we have our Open Day here – please let your friends know,
and you too, are welcome to attend. It is free and is a lovely introduction
to what we offer here at the Port.
In May we have “Healing Relationships” and Holotropic
Breathwork on May 29 to June 1st. See below for details of these
workshops. I hope you can join us. With every good wish, Pat Quinn
Four Steps to Personal Freedom
Are you able to do what is important to you? Or is your life dictated
by deeply entrenched beliefs and roles? This is an exciting weekend
which will help you to gain a deeper sense of personal freedom in
the way you live your life.
• Beliefs, thoughts, feelings and actions govern how you live
your life. The workshop will help you discover and examine what
they are.
• Know how they serve or don’t serve you. This awareness
enables you to decide which of these no longer serve you in creating
what you desire.
• The Change Point – Living Differently. We then examine
ways of making changes in how we live each day.
• Being supported during change. We also consider the ongoing
support required to maintain this new way of being.
Bring: Notebook, biro, food to share. Bed linen and doona
if living in.
Date: April 10-11, 2010

Maura
Luxford has completed her epic ride from Kempsey to Melbourne to
raise awareness of melanoma and fund-raise for the Peter MacCallum

Check
out Maus' wonderful blog and there's also quite a few media links
at www.ride4acure.com.au - have a 'wander' round.
Also here's an article that appeared in the Herald Sun 28 November

.
Carol Dyer and Wendy Bignell were delighted to be in Melbourne at
the Peter McCallum Institute to celebrate Maura's completion of
her Ride4acure marathon. A substantial crowd of family, friends
of Hannah and Institute staff were as excited as we were to be there.
Carol and I felt we were, in a small way, representative of ATERC
friends, all of us who have cried, laughed, supported and contributed
to such an amazing journey. Heartiest congratulations to Maura and
all involved for such a wonderful tribute to Hannah.'
