THE BENEFITS OF BELONGING TO ATERC – What's in it for me
?
Personal/Collegial
• We are unique in the counselling field offering a service
that is truly wholistic
and nourishing for both client and practitioner.
• We support one another. We talk the same language.
•
We have a shared Mission
•
We are ‘Proudly Who We Are’
•
We have a strong sense of belonging. We have one another as resources.
We are not alone.
•
We have Chapter and National Gatherings to nourish the individual,
for the individual to nourish the whole,
for the gathering of the energy, which we know we
are supported by the energy.
• We have great social occasions together. We have fun.
Professional
•
We ensure Training integrity and parity.
• We encourage peer supervision and case discussion with
other Association Members.

We refer to competent ATERC recognised supervisors.

We support ongoing professional development and updating.
• We provide access to resources and Forums available in
the Member's Section of the ATERC website.
Financial
• The ATERC management is composed of Members working for
Members
(we have been able to avoid the financial burden of
employing and executive).
• We offer normal cost to non-members and reduced cost to
Members (e.g.; supervision and special needs).
• We research and recommend to Members least cost avenues
for insurance, etc.
• We apply for grants on behalf of and for the benefit of
Members.
Spiritual Nourishment
• at the level of ATERC Chapter 'Waterhole' Gatherings
•
at the level of the ATERC National Conferences (held every 18
months).
• through our use of Social Dreaming and personal and group
Transpersonal work.
•
at the levl of our ongoing personal work as ATERC Members.
Legal/Professional
• We have strong Ethical Guidelines to maintain the integrity of our work.
• We are a member Association of a respected and influential umbrella organization (PACFA).
• ATERC Members who qualify, are entitled to be on the PACFA Register.
• PACFA is our equivalent of a union and the attendant benefits are:
- It is an independent body to whom Members have recourse if they have a complaint against ATERC
- It provides ATERC with mediation and conciliation.
- It gives ATERC credentials/bona fides in the market place.
- It gives ATERC legality - thus access to insurance.
- There is interdisciplinary awareness and recognition of our work via PACFA meetings,
Conference presentations, etc.
- It helps us avoid becoming insular.
- It gives us access to Government bodies, recognition, employment agencies and financial opportunities
(for example Medicare Rebate for ATERC Members is currently being sought).
